I don’t understand all the controversy surrounding Brent Musburger’s comments about University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon during the Sugar Bowl broadcast earlier this month. Musburger simply said that he thinks Mixon has turned his life around since an incident in which he physically beat a female student. He said Mixon is truly sorry for what he did and that he has paid the price for it. Musburger also said that Mixon should be forgiven and that he wishes him well in his life and his upcoming career in professional football. Musburger obviously believes in forgiveness, as we all should. It's an important tenet of our Judeo-Christian heritage. But some is our society seem to think that certain offences are unforgiveable, especially those in which women, minorities, LBGT people, or children are the victims. These people claim to believe in equality, but they really don’t. They claim to be non-judgmental, but they really aren’t. When any wrong is done against a member of one of the aggrieved groups, they believe the offender is supposed to be punished for life, even if he or she is a member of one of the other aggrieved groups. Nothing but liberal claptrap.
