During a recent interview with NBC’s Ann Curry, Rick Santorum was asked about something he had said earlier in regard to the rationale for his opposition to sending women into combat. He had said the day before that the primary reason he was opposed to sending women into combat is that men tend to want to protect women in situations in that, which would not be good for the mission. He said this tendency would distract the male soldiers from the job at hand, i.e., engaging the enemy. Curry asked if he would like to “take another crack at that” (as if it was something he might have wanted to retract).
Santorum then reiterated what he had said previously, and pointed out the fact that Israel, a country that features women prominently in its military, does not send them into combat. Curry seemed surprised that Santorum actually stuck to his guns. The reason, of course, is that she, like so many others in the liberal media, has been so immersed in political correctness that she can no longer think straight or recognize common sense when she encounters it. People like Curry often mistake the conventional foolishness for common sense, and good old-fashioned common sense for foolishness. I genuinely feel sorry for her and all the others of her ilk.
