That disgusting and stomach-turning photo that made its way to just about every newspaper and news website told me all I needed to know. It was a picture of two lesbian female petty officers sharing a “first kiss” on a pier at Virginia Beach, VA, after one of them had just returned from sea. This was once a ritual rightly reserved for heterosexual couples. But sadly, our military has been reduced to an institution of social engineering and political correctness. But more importantly, our once God-fearing country is now using its armed services to flaunt its immorality.
When we went to war in years past, there were some among us who believed that God was on our side. Whether or not they were correct is debatable. However, we have now removed all doubt. Even if He was before, God is definitely not on our side now. He couldn’t possibly be. Whenever we go to war now, we are on our own. There is no need to pray for God to help us because He will not hear.
The palmist says: “If I regard iniquity my heart, the Lord will not hear” (Psalm 66:18 NKJV). This principle applies to nations as well as individuals. Now what does it mean to regard iniquity? Does it mean one who is not perfect necessarily regards sin? Not at all. God does not expect any person or any nation to be perfect. However, one “regards” sin when he or she refuses to acknowledge that there is anything wrong with it, and therefore does not feel guilty about it.
God expects us to call a spade a spade and to call a sin a sin. Those who refuse to acknowledge or feel repentant for sin will never ask or receive forgiveness for it. See how that works? Until we as a nation acknowledge and repent of our sinful condition, we should never expect God to do anything for us.
