Ever since the GOP presidential debate in Orlando, members of the mainstream and liberal media have been falsely claiming that some people in the audience that night booed the gay marine who asked the question about “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” They were not booing the marine. It was not personal, despite what the media would have us believe. They were booing the way he asked his question. There’s a big difference.
He asked the question in a way that would make it seem that there was only one reasonable answer – the answer he wanted to hear. In other words, answer it the way I want you to, or look bad – take your pick. However, Rick Santorum did not take the bait. He answered in accordance with his beliefs, and got applauded for it.
Some of us don’t like that kind of questioning. Many times, partisan pollsters will use such tactics to get the kinds of answers they desire. For example, they might call you and ask, “Don’t you think we all pay way too much in taxes?” Obviously, they are looking for a ‘yes.’ However, even though I hate high taxes, I would answer ‘no’ because I don’t appreciate being manipulated by anyone – even someone I already agree with.
