Now that gay marriage has been signed into law in New York, what are the good and decent people of that state to do now? Well, the first thing they should do is take a deep breath and think about this thing rationally. They should avoid name-calling and using insulting monikers against homosexuals. However, now is not the time to tone down the rhetoric - it's time to turn it up.
While they are at it, they should target the seats of those legislators who voted in favor of this law. They should do everything within the letter of the law to help remove these people from office and replace them with those who will promise to repeal this legislation. That means raising as much money as possible for the upcoming state elections without violating any federal, state, or local ordinances.
Is this a realistic goal? Absolutely. Remember, whenever voters have gone to the polls in any state in this country to take a direct up or down vote on gay marriage, it has lost every time ... and I mean every time! Gay marriage has become law in six states and the District of Columbia only through the courts and elected representatives. Let's see what happens when the good folks of New York have their say.
