The other day, Jane Velez-Mitchell (who, fortunately, is no relation to me) was at it again -- ragging on pop superstar Michael Jackson for standing on top of a van and creating a spectacle during his child molestation trial. Why does Velez-Mitchell, a victim’s rights advocate and attack dog who hosts her own program on CNN Headline News, have such a problem with that? Isn’t it time for her to just let it go?
Besides, the only victim I saw during that trial was Jackson, who spent much of his personal fortune on his defense. Personally, I was cheering him on. The “spectacle” he created was his way of thumbing his nose at the so-called criminal justice system that brought those trumped up charges against him. Of course, he was later vindicated when a jury concluded that he was completely innocent of all charges.
How are people, pray tell, supposed to act in this situation? Should we expect them to have reverence for the court and meekly go about fighting the charges? How then are they supposed to get back at those who are bringing the charges? I would have done something similar to what Jackson did if false charges were brought against me, i.e., instead of showing any reverence, I would be telling everyone what I thought about their little kangaroo court.
Hooray for Michael Jackson! He's a rare and brave guy -- a hero to me!

I'm with you on this. The trial ended years ago; journalists should get to work and find some real news to report instead of bringing up all this old stuff.
The Jackson trial was a joke, except it wasn't for him. It nearly distroyed him and certainly left his life a mess. I'm hoping his concerts in London will be a great success and he can go back to being a great entertainer instead of the target of cheap shots by comedians and "reporters."

I totally agree, why dont the press focus on some real issues and not continue to pull up the past in regards to Michael Jackson. Michael was cleared on all counts! end of story.
Let the man get on with his life.
Jane Velez-Mitchell should really forget this, its quiet clear that she has a problem with Mr Jackson, and how sad that this grown women keeps dragging this story up time and time again. Please just get a life!...

Hi Terry,
Excellent article on Michael Jackson !!
What is it with Jane and her obsession with Michael Jackson ?
The guy has been totally cremated by the press.
If she would consider the facts as an open minded person should and by that I am referring to both prosecutorial and defense, I don't see how anybody in their right mind could come up with a different verdict!!!
Jane have some gumption, don't be so influenced by your peers.....Dianne Diamond ring a bell?

As unpopular as defending Michael Jackson might be, it is totally fair and just in this circumstance. Thank you for your courage to speak out in defense of him. Those accusations nearly destroyed an innocent man and that trial was a circus. Poor Michael Jackson. May God be with him always.

Thank God! Its about time somebody wrote something about that so called CNN's Jane Valez-Michell. That woman is a complete hater and a moron! How dare you talk down constantly on MJ when you are and can never be better than him or Bubbles??? As a lawyer, i beleive people are presumed innocent until found guilty and Micheal was found and is still INNOCENT period.. I wonder how CNN hired a college undergrad like you Jane.
CNN editors are also to blame for this because they allow her to go on air and say all sorts of garbage.
Jane Valez- Mitchel and CNN... am no fan of yours and i hope you guys disappear. Micheal is simply the Best so eat that !!!

Plain and simple that Jane Valez-Mitchel is a man hater. I feel that her and Nancy Grace have both gone to far regarding the judgment of certain people. Jane often mentions the Michael Jackson trial but I just ignore her. Good comments on here. She sure thinks her sh*t don't stink.

THEY MUST LEAVE HIS KIDS ALONE OTHER WISE THEY SHOULD SUED INCLUDING THE NETWORK OR MAGAZINES THEY ARE WORKING FOR ALL THEY ARE WORTH BY THE JACKSON'S FAMILY.

Fantastic Terry! Thank you!
Jane, Nancy Grace and Diane Dimond-- really honestly need stop with negativity. Not only is their 'reporting' really repulsive but it gives women in journalism a bad reputation. They just appear to be bitter post-menopausal women. Way to stand up for womens' voices "ladies". I know you don't represent me.
I won't watch any shows they are guests or hosts. Period.

Finally! Someone who is able to reason, analyze, assess, look at something soberly, and realize that our media have lost their credibility when they attack people--celebrities or otherwise--instead of understanding what are actually the weighty issues of an event or circumstance.
I fully agree with you Terry.

You are so right, the only victim in that trial was Michael Jackson. Thank God, the jury saw that too. It's just too bad that there are no laws against defaming the dead. Imo, that's how, to name two, Diane Diamond and Rabbi Shmuley get away with trashing Michael's legacy. There are no laws to enforce ethical journalism, only a code of ethics, that are simply guidlines for decision making on what to report, and they are not subject to enforcement by the law, under the protection fo the First Amendment. These trash reporters and authors hide behind the first amendment and that is beyond sad,it is evil.
