Classic Rants and Raves #37

An informal education can be more costly than a formal one, as the most expensive university in the world is the University of Trial and Error!

I wouldn't have the attention span to follow a soap opera on a regular basis. They are just too vapid to keep my attention for very long.

There are some comedians who can't seem to ever come out of their comedy routines and act like real people for a few minutes. Jonathan Winters and Gilbert Gottfried are two that come to mind here.

When your power or phone service goes out, never assume that someone else is going to contact the power company or phone company.

A guy went to see his optometrist for his annual eye exam. After it was completed, the eye doctor told him that the exam revealed the fact that he was presbyopic. Caught completely off guard by the diagnosis, he replied, "That can't be, doc, I'm Baptist!"

I hate it when someone makes me feel like a VUP - very unimportant person!

Ecclesiastes 9:4 (KJV) says, "...a living dog is better than a dead lion." I wonder how many people take that verse seriously.

When you are told that something is dangerous or difficult, believe every word of it; when you are told that something is safe or easy, be very skeptical.

Never become too attached to (1) money that has yet to be taxed, (2) something you don't own outright, or (3) something that can be taken away from you at a moment's notice.

Blog Summary

  • No-holds-barred commentary (and humor) by Terry Mitchell on a variety of subjects such as current events, society and culture, politics, personal finance, technology, religion, health and well-being, sports, media issues, and trivia.

His blog entries have been picked up or linked to by mainstream news services like Reuters, CNN, Wall Street Journal Online, USA Today, the Houston Chronicle, the Austin American-Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, the Chicago Sun Times, the Palm Beach Post, CoxOhio.com, Northwest Florida Daily News, ConsumerAffairs.com, WWL-TV, WMUR, and WNBC. In addition to his blogging, he is currently a regular columnist for etalkinghead.com and American Chronicle. He has also written over 100 feature-length articles that have appeared on numerous Web sites.

In this blog, Terry will never miss an opportunity to assail political correctness or take pot shots at the conventional foolishness.

In this age of information overload, Terry knows that most people don't have time to read long, rambling blog entries. Therefore, he serves up most of his posts on this blog in small, bite-size portions. You'll appreciate his cut-to-the-chase writing style that gets straight to the point without the unnecessary and boring lead-ins.

Also, Terry makes following promises in regard to this blog that very few bloggers will make:

    1) Posts which are always family-friendly and free of profanity and vulgarity (despite this fact, this blog is never boring and never shies away from controversy).

    2) A reasonable effort to assure proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.

Readers are free to comment, both pro and con, on any post. However, any comments that include profanity or name-calling will be promptly deleted. One who cannot defend his position on a given issue without resorting to such tactics is, at best, too ignorant to adequately defend his position, and at worst, lacking a defensible position altogether.

For Terry's biography (in his own words), see the "ABOUT" link on the left side of this page, just below his photo.
